Gramercy Insight:

Market consensus and IMF global growth forecasts are now aligned at -3.0% albeit still subject to downside risks given challenges associated with reopening strategies and lack of clarity regarding the outlook for COVID-19.

May Composite PMI data for the US and Euro Area reflect improvement albeit remain comfortably in contractionary territory. The overall EM PMI slipped slightly from April, while China’s improved sharply back to expansionary levels . Amid gradual reopening strategies, tracking of consumer behavior and mobility will be an important leading indicator in determining the strength and timing of recovery.
